UN criticizes Israel's exploitation of occupied lands in Palestine, the Golan

Israel-UN, Politics, 12/23/2005

The UN General Assembly on Thursday demanded Israel in a resolution under the title "permanent supremacy for the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territories including East Jerusalem and to the Arab people in the occupied Syrian Golan heights over their natural resources," to stop exploiting natural resources in the whole occupied Palestinian lands and in the occupied Golan Heights, in disposing of these resources and endangering them.

The resolution which was adopted by a majority of 151 votes against 9 abstainers, called on Israel to give up the construction of the speration wall in all the occupied Palestinian territories because it constitutes a violation of international law and deprives the Palestinian people from their natural resources. It called on it to completely abide by legal obligations towards the resolutions of the International Court Of Justice, which said the separation wall was illegal.

The UN General Assembly also called on Israel to give up dumping all chemical and nuclear wastes in the occupied Palestinian territories and in the Golan because of their danger reflected on the natural resources including waters and land, and in threatening the environment and endangering the health of civilians.
